Highlanders support kilt ban pupil

An American student banned from wearing a kilt to his high school dance has won the support of a Highland community.

Nathan Warmack, 18, from Missouri, was told to change into trousers by the school principal when he turned up wearing the tartan.

An online petition was launched demanding an apology from Jackson High head Rick McClard, drawing more than 1,600 signatures.

The figure was boosted by residents of Caithness after a local councillor posted a link to the

petition on a community website.

Bill Fernie, councillor for Wick West, said: "One of the leaders of Clan Gunn over in America contacted me and asked me to highlight what had happen

ed to the community here.

"Caithness is the home of the clan so he thought that people here might be interested in showing their support for their petition. It's something that a lot of people feel quite strongly about."

Warmack became interested in his Scottish heritage after watching Mel Gibson play hero William Wallace in the film Braveheart. He bought a kilt in red MacRae tartan on the internet and wore it with a shirt and tie and to his school's formal dance.

He claimed that the principal ordered him to change, telling him that he did not want anyone at the dance looking like a clown.

Members of the Clan Gunn Society of North America launched the petition on November 19.

It reads: "How could a person who works with kids on a daily basis not see the importance of self-esteem and the courage it takes young people to show pride in their families' heritages? We truly hope Mr McClard finds the courage to apologise to Nathan Warmack. He deserves an apology."

The principal is a jackass. Who like most principals I have en

countered is not understanding and wouldent know culture if it jumped up and bit him on the ASS! Ipersonallyy hope that Nathan was going "regimental" and took it off right in front of the principal!

If you would like to let mr. McClard know how you feel, here is his email address!

If you would like to add your name here is the petition

A very Hilton Christmas

From news:

Giant Paris Hilton Christmas display shakes up Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. --See Paris Hilton in all her seductive splendor, striking a provocative pose for passing motorists and spreading hot Christmas cheer in a chilly Rhode Island winter.

Blown-up images of Hilton and strings of pink Christmas lights adorn the front lawn of a home in a middle-class neighborhood of this city, part of a head-turning holiday display that pays homage to the famed hotel heiress.

The over-the-top pictorial is the work of Joe Moretti, a 38-year-old designer who was arrested last year for trespassing on Martha Stewart's property in Maine.

Passersby get an eyeful of Hilton sporting a tiny pink top hiding little of her chest, or wearing knee-high boots and a sultry pout or holding a finger to her lips. Even Hilton's faithful Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, is celebrated in a colorful portrait.

"If it's offending anyone, I apologize," Moretti said in a telephone interview Thursday.

"That's not the intent. The intent is to be different and to be creative and let them see a little bit of Hollywood or New York -- bring it to Cranston," Moretti explained.

A number of cars slowed or came to a complete stop on the busy road as they passed Moretti's house Thursday afternoon, the better to ogle a life-sized shot of Hilton with high boots, legs spread and eyes partly closed.

Moretti's display includes a list entitled "How to Be a Hilton," complete with tips such as: "An entrance is everything," "NEVER wake before 10 a.m." and "NEVER spend the summer in NYC."

Neighbors in Cranston, just south of Providence, had mixed reactions.

"It's nothing more than they could see on TV, on normal stations -- or actually at school," said Stefanie D'Angelos, 28, who has four children.

Added Frank DelSanto, who said he was near 80: "People should not be ashamed of their sexuality -- male or female."

But others were bothered.

"It has nothing to do with the holiday, and it doesn't suggest anything that's appropriate to this time of year," said Judy Gershman, 57, who said she had hadn't looked closely at the display.

Ron Raffonelli, 65, said he would be upset if his young grandchildren came to associate Christmas with naked woman. He'd prefer the kids to think of Santa Claus instead.

After all, Raffonelli said, "He's been around longer."

This is the latest in a series of artistic lawn displays decorating Moretti's lawn. Last year, he paid tribute to Martha Stewart even as he and another man faced charges for sneaking on to the domestic maven's property. The charges were later dismissed, and the men donated money to public libraries near the property. Moretti calls the incident a "big misunderstanding."

Moretti has made past tributes to Madonna, Princess Diana and Liberace.

He came upon his latest subject after meeting Hilton in a store in the Hamptons, and said he found himself fascinated.

"She was just very sweet," Moretti recalled. "So I said, 'Wow, this year I think I'm going to do a Paris Hilton Christmas.'"

Wow what more can you say! I thought this was pefect for 'the princess within'

Good quote on Boston Legal this eveing

This quote was used on Boston Legal this evening and it was a good one. thought I would share:

"In Germany they first came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up."

WOW talk about Shit that pisses you off!!!!!!

Ok Now I hesitate to even post about this, because I don't want to spread this CRAP any more then it already is. But this is my blog and I get to bitch when I get pissed off, and well I'm pissed off! These CHILDREN are the beginning of the end. Check out their site here.
Here is a video of what look like cute sweet children, this is just flat out disturbing. It didn't really hit me until I saw one of them in highland dress. That just infuriated me!!!! If you look in there store section the promote finding your Irish and your Scottish history. It made me honestly sick. Here are the lyrics to that music video:
Well sit down and listen, to what I have to say. Soon will come a great war, a bloody but holy day. And after that purging our people will be free, and sing up in the bright skies, a sun for all to seeÂ…Â….

Times are very tough now for a proud White man to live. And although it may appear that this world has no life to give. Times are soon changing, this cant go on or long. And on that joyful summerÂ’s day weÂ’ll sing our Victory songÂ…..

The women, theyÂ’ll smile, on Victory Day. And the children, theyÂ’ll laugh and theyÂ’ll sing and theyÂ’ll play. And the forests will echo our grace, for the brand new dawn of our RaceÂ…

You are my brother and in war we proudly sing. Our Cause shall never tire. Our gift to you we bring: A holy creed of Racial purpose, A mighty Race to defend. And when we fly our holy flag Their oppressive reign shall endÂ….

And when we finally conquer, our people will be free. And all across this great land, the bold Truth we shall see. So as we march together, to avoid catastrophe, letÂ’s remember always our sacred DestinyÂ….

What more can I say. Its freedom of speech, all I can say is thank God I have the freedom not to listen to it!

The Saga Continues.....

9-24-05 9:00am So we wake up half dead, and Check out. We grab a cab with another wonderful cab driver. He was great! They are so nice. We get back to the air port and pick up the car. I was almost positive that giving the state of things that we would be sure to be with out a car. But every thing was there and ready to go! It was so easy. The people were very nice and very helpful. We stopped and grabbed some more euros, and headed out to the shuttle, then we were wasked away to the middle of BFE to pick up the car.
10:45 am Ok got the car(later to be named "the little 4 banger of furry") Ok we are pulling out of the parking lot , HOLY SHIT I'M GONNA DIE! Ok lets just get to the main road, Where the hell is it. Ok M50 is there, ok we are on the M50 Pay the toll, Now, on to the N7 Which will turn on to the M7 This is a nice Road for Ireland.I dont remember them being this nice!
12:00pm Still Driving lalalalalalalala Found a radio station that is only in Irish. Try to figure out what they are saying! The Whole way down we are talking about what all we were doing to preparations for the wedding just one year prior.
4:00pm We arrive in Union Hall It is cold and rainy and we are tired. I go to the pay phone to call Mary to tell her we are in town so that she can let us in to the cottage. Of course true to form with the rest of the trip she is not answering the phone. Again the Princess is not happy. I am just to the point of freaking out here. So. If you look at the picture on the left we go in to the pink pub on the left. Called Dinty's. In there we find a bartender, and an old fisherman drinking of all things, a Budweiser. So Nick has a Murphy's and I have a Bulmers which by the way I LOVE! It is so much better then the other ciders out there. We sit there talk to the Irishman drink our beers and watch Manc. United get beat on telly.
5:30pm Mary comes through the door of Dinty's and we go up to the cottage. Now in true Murphy's law fashion (it can always get worse) she takes off like a bat out of hell, in the pouring rain and we lose her but alas we catch up. and we get to the cottage. It's a little odd to be back but nice to be off the roads and out of the rain.
Mary and I catch up and she tells us that we didn't have to wait for her that we could have just come on up. Figures. She was on call for hospice and was with a lady and that is why she was not able to come and get us at that min. Ok good enough.
6:00pm I walk around every thing looks the same as it did before, I pick up the visitors book, and there on the second page is moms hand writing from the first time I was there with mom and dadin 2000. I broke down and if nick hadn't caught me I would have collapsed.
6:30pm Too tired to move. Nick and I fall asleep on couch. Wake up abut 9-9:30. Pitch Black outside Nothing is around.
9:30pm Flip through channels, wow British/Irish TV is awful! Nick and I go to bed around 1:30-2:00am (9:oopm EST)
9-25-05 4:00am Still up I am really freaked out by the place and thinking about mom. I hear every little noise. About 5:00am Finally get to sleep.

Ok I'm sick of typing more later.

whee fun!

Your Blogging Type is Kind and Harmonious

You're an approachable blogger who tends to have many online friends.
People new to your blogging circle know they can count on you for support.
You tend to mediate fighting and drama. You set a cooperative tone.
You have a great eye for design - and your blog tends to be the best looking on the block!

I'mm Baaack!!!!!!!

I'm home! I'm tired, I'm sore, I will probably never ever fly Northwest airlines again. I have tons of pictures and lots of memories and about on hour of video. Let's see We left on the 22nd and arrived on Dublin on the 23rd.
9-22-05 3:00pm The Plane out of Lexington was about 20 min. Late boarding and once it did we sat at the gate for about 30 minutes for no good reason. We pulled away from the gate and then sat on the runway for another 20 minutes while the pilot decided wether or not we needed more fuel. Finaly almost an hour later we take off.
5:00pm The Pilot has taken another route that did cut some time off of the trip so Nick and I take a run accross Detrot Airport. We think we can make it because the plane leaves at 5:25. Well no, they moved the time up and the plance was leaving at 5:15. We got to the gate at 5:15. The door had just closed the plane was still there and we could not get on. The Princess WAS NOT HAPPY. So They reroute us through Charles DeGale. (Oringaly we were suspoed to go through to Amsterdam.) So we eat some Dinner and look through the shops.
9:10pm The plane is susposed to be boarding and its not. HARUMPH!
9:30pm The plane boards. Looks only half full. Ok This works for me it will be quiet and I can sleep.
10:10pm We are still at the gate. Another passenger asks a flight attendant wha
t is going on she says we are waiting on 50 more people from connecting flights. Are you kidding! Now you can wait?
10:30pm Pilot comes on and says that the weater is to bad and no one is allowed to land or take off. ok. I'll buy that there are huge lighting strikes outside the plane. that is fine with me. We can sit here at long as need be!
11:15pm We Finaly take off! Ok on my way to Paris. (oh goody)

9-23-05 12:00pm Welcome to Paris. I kept seeingChevy Chase in my head all through this trip. We get to Paris and by the time we ride the bus all over from terminal to terminal we have missed to plane to Dublin. Surprise, surprise, surprise. so we go the the counter and we get tickets for the next plane wich is in another 3 hours. So we have to go through security again. they scan my bag and the snoty frog tells me that my necklace is dangerous because it has a point on it. I'm really glad I kepy my cool. I about lost it at that point. WE go through security and we go a sit in the dirtiest part of the airport with the nastiest bathrooms in creation! So while we are sitting here we call Jury's Christ Church in Dublin because now we will not be getting in untill 5 or 6 so we wanted to let them know to not give away our room. Nick calls and they can not find our reservation. I'm really about to crack. THANK GOD we had our online print out with the conformation and all that on it. They told us just to bring that and they would get us in.
3:25pm Board the plane for Dublin. This one actualy went off with out much of a hitch I am shocked! we got on the bus, we got on the plane we left and we landed. WHO HOO!
4:45pm Land and go through immigration. Not a big deal hi heres my passport and here I go. wow that was easy!
5:45pm Euros: Check Luggage: Check Sanity: not so much We got a Cab and an extreamly NICE driver and finaly got to the hotel.
6:15pm Ok at the Hotel trying to check in. Hotel staff is very nice. We get and room and about crash right then and there.
8:00pm Decide that we are to tired to go out so we eat in the hotel pub. Not Bad, Not Great. But hey it served it's purpose. we ate and then we slept. and now so shall I. I will be back with another instalment and pictures tomorrow! :)

The Power of Christ Compels You!

Damn This is Funny!

University of Kentucky finally Makes Top 20

From the Lexington Herald Leader:

UK's student body 8th fattest, magazine finds

By Sharon Thompson

Kentucky nutritionists are cringing at this report in the October issue of Men's Fitness magazine: The University of Kentucky is eighth among the top 20 fattest colleges in America.

In the magazine's first report on the health of America's college campuses, it partnered with Princeton Review, a research organization that tracks interests and habits of college students.

Ten thousand students from more than 660 U.S. colleges and universities were asked everything from "How many pounds have you gained or lost since you started going to school?" and "How often do you work out?" to thoughts on "How would you rate the fitness facilities on your campus?" and "Does your school appear to care about how fit you are?"

The fittest schools? Brigham Young University and the University of California-Santa Barbara were No. 1 and 2, respectively.

The University of Louisiana-Lafayette and the University of New Orleans were at the top of the fattest heap.

UK students were labeled "biggest couch potatoes." The magazine said, "Wildcats spend 12.1 hours per week in front of the boob tube -- that's twice as much as the national average."

Men's Fitness added this note: "But even a love of March Madness shouldn't be able to skew the results that much. We're reckoning it's the Beverly Hillbillies marathons on Nick@Nite that may have the students glued to the screen."

The magazine's stereotyping could discredit its findings.

Beth Atnip, fitness director at UK, said, "We're doing a great job of promoting wellness on campus." The Johnson Center on south campus is free to all students with ID, and housing students have their own gym."

Students interested in better eating and exercise can find help on campus, Atnip said. They can get nutrition counseling, and exercise classes and equipment are available.

I don't think this is what Lee Todd was thinking when he set how to make UK one of the nation’s top 20 universities. Oh well, we finally made it on one level :)

On a similar note, I have been on topamax for the last month and have lost 8 pounds! And have had significantly less migraines. It's GREAT!!!!

OH and just to keep count had three more in today with the same thing about the shoes. They are all from the same school. I think I'm seeing a trend. Cheap=Stupid.

Friday, September 16, 2005

OK I have to get this off my chest! I work in a Dance retail store. I sell Dance shoes. I want to offer this little tidbit of advice to the parents out there. I am not a freaking miracle worker!!!! I can NOT make a pair of ill fitting $29.00 tap shoes last for 2YEARS!!!! It is NOT POSSIBLE!!!!!! Your child's feet will grow in 2 years. If I fit them that big now them will walk right out of them now. Let me re cap these are not the $79.00 tap shoes or even the $298.00 tap shoes oh no $29.00 ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!!! The shoes are cheap, even at the right size they don't fit well. AHHHHH. Sorry. The frustration had mounted. The mother in question had driven up in a Lexus and had diamonds all over her hands and was carrying a coach purse. I don't know if she spent it all on her self or what. But I was livid. OK I'm done. Have a great week end.

UPDATE: Yet another one today, (9-18) Did the exact same thing! Are you people stupid?
I hate to be rude but I really can not fathom how on earth you can think that this is humanly possible. Any way moving on.

Nick and I ate dinner at Panera bread this evening. I have to say that I was grossly underwelmed. The staff was very nice and pleasant, the decor was your usual I am so stuck up my ass with trend. So no real complaints there, I was not so thrilled when we had to wait a 1/2 hour for our 2 cold sandwiches only to find out that our food was done the little light up buzzer thing wasn't working. Once we did get our food my sandwich was wrong, how hard is a ham and cheese sandwich with nothing on it. Not an little bit of this and little bit of that no I said just put the meat and cheese on the bread. Well we eat our meal with kettle chips, I HATE kettle chips (too hard) and decide for a little desert and for desert I have a cinnamon chip scone. That would have been really good had it been warm. I have to say, it was not horrible, I cant say that I will never go back but it wouldnt be my first choice of places to go. ok
End rant

Ok so today I am just pissed

Have you ever just woken up and thought I am in just too bad of a mood to be seen today. I'm not quite sure why I'm up set I have been up since 4:00 this morning so that could have something to do with it. I also saw a woman smoking with her kid in the car this morning and wanted to scream and yell at her, do you have any idea what in the hell you are doing!!!!!! Not that it would have done any good. All in all I should be in a good mood, my schedule is only 12-6 today and I get my new 2006 escape limited after work. But no, I'm just angry with the world right now. I think the comment below really made me angry last night and I'm still going from that. So I guess the person who made the comment got the desired effect. I just wish they would have had the balls to have posted who they were. I don't post with out listing who I am. ANY time I post a comment.

Wow Proof that there is still humor in the world...

From Monsters and

MIAMI BEACH, FL, United States (UPI) -- Police guarded the Miami Beach hospital room of Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight and made little headway into solving his shooting.

A bone in Knight`s upper right leg was shattered by a bullet during a party at the swanky Shore Club before the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night. He underwent surgery and was reported in stable condition.

Although the party was packed with revelers, Miami Beach police spokesman Bobby Hernandez told Wednesday`s Miami Herald no witnesses have come forward.

"We`re not getting any information," he said. "We don`t have a motive. We don`t have a suspect. We have very little information and it`s very frustrating."

"Access Hollywood" speculated Knight may have accidentally shot himself.

The tabloid TV show pointed to the lack of shell casings found at the scene of the shooting, saying Knight`s security could have cleared the area as well as taken his gun before police arrived.

Knight is a convicted felon and could be returned to prison if he was in possession of a firearm, "Access Hollywood" said.

Not that any one geting shot is ever funny, but if he really did shoot him self in the rear which would be quite a feat, I think that is hilarious!

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in attitudes

Ok so call me an idiot....
Here is what I am driving:
The deal here is this was my mom's car. I don't have to pay taxes, gas, insurance, oil changes nothing. It is an 03. It's in great shape. I get really depresesed when I drive it. So Dad has offered me a new deal we trade this one in for what ever hopefully this:
But then it's mine all mine. The princess has to pay everything. But no car payment. He will pay off the car for me. I guess at the ripe old age of 25 it is time that I take on some responsibility. Ok that's it for now.

I'm a Dagger, hmm..... that explains alot.

Your personality is best represented by the Japanese dagger, called a Tanto. A person who wields a Tanto knows better than anyone that you cant judge on appearance alone. You have the unique ability to see the full potential in people and objects long before anyone else has a clue. You are clever and are probably underestimated a lot by others, but YOU know who you are and exactly what you are capable of.

I love the Scottish!

You know there are things that fall under the heading of: "This can not end well"
please have a look at some friends of ours wedding recption last night.
This was at the end of the night around cleanup.
First we have Heidi and her new mother in law.

Heidi gets ready to swing and ...

She misses. So she tries a different approach...
And with all the grace and poise of a bride the pinata is run-thru.
The pinata was tough so Heidi tossed it to the ground to do some more damage.
The damn thing still would not give! So what do you do? CALL in the PIPER!!!!
now keep your eye on the bell....
And Keith hits it! the crowd goes wild; the bride shrieks :)And alas a final image for the evening.
